4 Benefits Of Using High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) Prostate Cancer Treatment In The Beginning Stages

Health & Medical Blog

When you are first diagnosed with prostate cancer, there are a few options for moving forward that your doctor will provide you. One of these options will probably include HIFU (high intensity focused ultrasound) cancer treatment for your prostate cancer. This treatment is the process of using ultrasound rays to kill the cancer tissue by heating it up to extreme temperatures. Of course, you'll want to know what the benefits are to using this type of treatment over others to ensure that you are comfortable moving on with this treatment. Here are the four benefits of this type of treatment to consider:

No Invasive Surgery:

Being diagnosed with cancer is scary. It typically means that you will be visiting the doctor so regularly that the hospital will begin to feel like home and your body will also begin to feel invaded, as well. This is why the benefit of having non-invasive surgery is probably so nice to hear. The doctors won't have to cut into anything to try and remove the cancer, but instead will use ultrasounds rays to be delivered to the prostate through the rectal wall.

Not Radiation:

Another great benefit that you will probably be happy to hear about is that using ultrasound rays is not the same as using radiation treatment, which is probably the first thing you think of when you hear the words "cancer treatment." This means that no tissue outside of the ultrasound beam is going to be affected like it would with radiation.

Not Continuous:

Using HIFU prostate cancer treatment is considered a single treatment. This means you come in for one day and you leave without having to do it again. The reason for this is that the HIFU prostate cancer treatment typically will burn the cancer away with this one single treatment.

Can be Repeated:

Just because the HIFU prostate cancer treatment is treated as a single treatment doesn't mean that you cannot repeat it in the future. For example, if you receive the treatment and the prostate cancer doesn't go away, you can repeat it to hopefully allow your body to experience the removal of the cancer tissues this time around. There have been many practitioners who have found excellent results after repeated treatments.

There are many options for prostate cancer treatment, so be sure that you consider all before making a decision. Keeping the benefits of HIFU treatment in mind will hopefully allow you to make the best decision possible.  Talk to a company like International HIFU to learn more about this type of treatment.

Seniors Deserve the Best

Seniors are like any other specialized group of people. They need services specific to their needs. Everything from nutrition to housekeeping to travel is different for seniors, and the services they receive should reflect that. I am a mental health care provider, and I work exclusively with people over the age of 65. My goal is to help educate the general population about the special needs of seniors and to inspire people to make their homes, businesses and lives more acceptable to the older generations. Seniors deserve our care and attention, and I hope that I can show others how to provide it.
