4 Options For Finding Affordable Orthodontic Treatment

Health & Medical Blog

If you have crooked teeth and are considering the option of getting braces, you're not alone. Unfortunately, braces can easily cost several thousand dollars out-of-pocket, and even if you have insurance, there's a good chance your policy won't cover the majority of your orthodontic expenses. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to go about finding affordable orthodontic treatment in the form of braces.

Check With Local Dental Schools

Start by inquiring with local dental or orthodontic schools to see if they'd be willing to provide you with the orthodontic treatment you need at a reduced price. The nice thing about having your braces done with a dental school is that you'll pay significantly less, but you'll still get to enjoy the peace of mind in knowing that there are plenty of skilled and experienced orthodontists overseeing the work being done on your mouth.

Inquire About Payment Plans

If you're not comfortable finding another dentist or orthodontist with your braces, you might want to consider simply asking your current dentist about payment plans they have available in their office. Because dentists know how expensive braces can be, they often provide some form of low-interest (or interest-free for a certain period of time) payment plans. This is a great way to avoid the financial burden of having to pay for your orthodontic treatment in full. Instead, you can spread the cost out over the length of your treatment.

Check for Low-Income Aid Options

If you're on a limited income and are struggling to afford braces for your child or for yourself, you may also want to look into state-funded aid options. These will require you to submit an application and provide some information about your current income and finances. However, if you're eligible, these programs can greatly reduce the cost of your orthodontic care while allowing you to remain with your preferred dentist or orthodontist for treatment.

Explore Your Treatment Options

Last but not least, don't forget to explore your treatment options. There's more than one way to straighten your teeth, after all. Traditional metal braces tend to be the most affordable option, but if your teeth are crooked as a result of over-crowding, a more viable option may be to have several teeth pulled to make more room for your teeth to naturally straighten out. Make sure to speak with your orthodontist and to thoroughly explore all of your possible treatment options.

Seniors Deserve the Best

Seniors are like any other specialized group of people. They need services specific to their needs. Everything from nutrition to housekeeping to travel is different for seniors, and the services they receive should reflect that. I am a mental health care provider, and I work exclusively with people over the age of 65. My goal is to help educate the general population about the special needs of seniors and to inspire people to make their homes, businesses and lives more acceptable to the older generations. Seniors deserve our care and attention, and I hope that I can show others how to provide it.
